Mr. Hanif was born into a Gujarati speaking family in Gujarat, India. Mr. Hanif attended the Gujarat Public School, in his local town before attaining a bachelor's degree in Marketing from the Gujarat University in 1993.
Mr. Hanif said he "always was fascinated with the world of communication". A very less developed stream at that time in India but a market with endless possibilities. He knew that communications is was what he wanted to pursue, but that emphasis was not available in India and he always wanted to venture out of india to pursue the same he says.
Finally after trying for various oppurtunites abroad Mr Hanif finally got through his first overseas job with Sohel Distributor Inc in South Africa. This is where his journey into the communications business started
1996 to 2005 - Sohel Distributors Inc
Mr. Hanif joined Sohel Distributors Inc as a marketing manager, and then withing the years at SDi rose to different ranks and also moved amongst different departments including marketing, operations, sales. This was all possible because of strong focus on growth and making SDi a credible name in the market.
These various departments included products in the retail space like calling cards, pinless cards etc. Thus exposing himself to the different aspects of the business overtime and gaining knowledge of the same.
Mr. Hanif ended its period at SDi in 2005 as Deputy Managing Director, a highly respected person within SDi.
2006 to 2010 - Smart Tel Inc
Mr. Hanif in 2006 finally felt that it was time to move on from SDi, although it being a very long relationship and a mutually fruitful relationship, it was Mr Hanifs view that in order to expand its own horizons a change was necessary, and that change came in the form of Smart Tel Inc, where Mr. Hanif got introduced the wholesale telecoms aspect of the business along with the retail experience that Mr. Hanif already had.
A major business of Smart Tel Inc was the wholesale carrier services business, Mr. Hanif found the wholesale business really appealing and also with a lot of scope to grow. Which is what exactly Mr. Hanif did for Smart Tel. Under Mr. Hanif's reign the business was grown exponentially over the years making Mr. Hanif Executive Vice Predsident Wholesale Operations for Smart Tel.
This also opened global oppurtunities and exposure to Mr. Hanif, and Mr. Hanif became one of the most known persons in the telecom and communication circles.
2011 to present - CEO and DIRECTOR - My Country Mobile
Mr. Hanif having gained vast knowledge and exposure in telecom industry eventually decided to move back to its roots, that is India, and started My Country Mobile, a telecom company based in India. Also because of the fact that Mr. Hanif always knew that India is a very strong market and knowing the market because it being the home country had its own advantages.
Mr Hanif is the Chief Executive Officer of My Country Mobile and Board member of various divisions within My Country Mobile, having extensive experience in the areas of telecom business operations, regulations, revenue models along with privatization, project finance, other financial transactions, and private placements.
Mr. Hanif is a results-oriented leader and an advocate of firm corporate governance and transparency. He has more than 25 years track record of solid telecoms, financial and managerial experience in South Africa and India. With a strong corporate finance background and expertise, Mr. Hanif has solid relationships with investment and commercial banking communities across the region.
Mr. Hanif has empowered My Country Mobile since its inception and has put it on a path of revenue growth on a year on year basis. Mr. Hanif's skills and expertise of handling billions of dollars of transactions across multiple companies in his career has been effectively used at My Country Mobile. Collectively My Country Mobile group of companies have had a gross revenue crossing Rs 1500 crores last year itself.
Thus making My Country Mobile a strong entity within itself and also in the telecommunication industry. My Country Mobile has projected and is expected to cross the Rs 2000 crore mark in 2016 as collective gross revenue of all MCM group companies.

Prior to his appointment, Mr. Hanif was the Chief Operating Officer of My Country Mobile, having joined the operation in January 2012 as Group CEO at Swadesh Mobile.
He assumed his latest role having achieved many accomplishments in his outstanding record, with over 20 years of experience in the fields of Information Technology and Telecommunications.
In Swadesh Mobile, Mr. Hanif helped build a nationwide network while deploying the latest technologies, including 3G and mobile broadband, which contributed to substantially increasing the customer base while sustaining the company's market leadership position.
He began his Mobile Telecom experience having joined Swadesh Mobile in 2005, and together with a small team that launched the first mobile prepaid service for NRIs in India, which went on to dominate the country's prepaid mobile customer base for NRIs in India.
